As the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom nears its 100th anniversary, we are continuing to build our vision of a just and peaceful world. To help develop a new generation of activists, our Practicum in Advocacy program, each year since 2008 has brought up to 20 young women to New York to attend the meetings of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
Nia Shima-Franklin, WILPF member from Santa Cruz, CA, participated in the WILPF Practicum in Advocacy in March 2013. Upon her return, Nia collaborated with WILPF member and former Santa Cruz mayor Jane Weed Pomerantz, to produce a workshop on the CSW conference and strategies for change.
They condensed the workshop to make it possible to present to WILPF branches and other organizations around the region.
Admission: Free. Light dessert included.
